How to Make Lavender Sugar
Add a subtle and elegant flair to your cooking by making your own lavender sugar. It's quick and easy to make.
Ingredients:
- 2 Tablespoons of Lavender Buds
- 4 Tablespoons of Sugar
Create a lavender sugar with 2 parts sugar and 1 part lavender buds. This will give your cooking a nice flavor without being too strong.
Option 1: To make lavender sugar, put the sugar and lavender in a food processor and grind until the lavender is in bits. About 30 seconds pulsed. You'll need to make enough lavender sugar to fill the food processor 1/3 to 1/2 full. Otherwise, it won't be heavy enough to grind the lavender.
Option 2: Another option is to grind lavender using a mortar and pestle and then mix in with sugar. I think this method works great. I take it a step further by adding it to the food processor and blending with the sugar for 10 seconds.
You can make the lavender sugar stronger or lighter depending on your taste by adjusting the amount of lavender in the sugar.
Now that you have your lavender sugar, it's time to start baking. Here are some ideas to get you started:
